Psalm 19 - Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 19.
www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/psa/19/1/s_497001
Meditate on verse 14.

Let the words of my mouth
 and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD,
 my Rock and my Redeemer.

Do you ever regret something you said? I’m grieved when I leave a gathering of people or a conversation with my husband wishing I had not spoken certain things. I have learned the hard way to whisper this verse in prayer before interacting with others:
Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth;
keep watch over the door of my lips.
—Psalm 141:3

Psalm 19:1-2 says the heavens are telling about the glory of God; they pour forth speech that declares the work of His hands. If a star is constantly talking about the LORD, how much more should the mouth of a person who has been saved by the Creator of the universe?
As you walk with Jesus, pray Psalm 19:13-14 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, keep _________ and me from presumptuous sins; let them not rule over us.

Make us blameless and acquitted of great transgression.
 Let the words of our mouths
and the meditation of our hearts
be acceptable
in Your sight, O LORD,
our Rock and our Redeemer,
Jesus Christ, in whose name I pray ~”

Psalm 1 - Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 1.
www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/psa/1/1/s_479001
Meditate on verse 6.

For the LORD knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.

An amazing aspect of being in relationship with Jesus Christ is the intimacy that the Creator of the universe not only allows you to have with Him; intimacy is what He desires you to have with Him. When God talks about knowing you and you knowing Him, He uses the Hebrew and Greek words that are used for intimacy between a husband and wife. If Jesus is your life (Colossians 3:4), He intimately knows your way, the journey you are on, everything about you. Take comfort and joy in knowing these truths as you walk with Him, today.
Pray Psalm 1:1-3 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, do not let ________ and me walk in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers,

but let our delight be in Your Law,
and let us meditate on it day and night.

Let us be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water
which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither.
In whatever we do, let us prosper.

In Your name, Jesus~”

Psalm 16 - Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 16.
www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/psa/16/1/s_494001
Meditate on verse 8.

I have set the LORD continually before me;
 because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Life can be hard. It is easy to be shaken by circumstances, struggles, and trials and lose sight of God who is sovereign. He is the only One who has supreme power and authority.
Refocus! Fix your eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2). Turn your eyes away from other things and place them definitely and permanently on Christ.
Pray Psalm 16:1-2 and 5-11 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“Preserve _________ and me, O God.
Let us take refuge in You.
LORD, You are our Lord;
we have no good besides You.

You are the portion of our inheritance and our cup;
You support our lot.
 Let the lines fall to us in pleasant places.
Let our heritage be beautiful. I bless You, LORD.
Please counsel ________ and me. Instruct our minds in the night.
Let us set You continually before us;
because You are at our right hand, do not allow us to be shaken.

May our hearts be glad and our glory rejoice.

Let our flesh also dwell securely,
for You will not abandon our souls to Sheol.

Make known to us the path of life.

In Your presence is fullness of joy;
in Your right hand there are pleasures forever.

In Your name, Jesus~”

Hosea 14 - Praying God's Word

Please read Hosea 14.
Meditate on verse 1-2a.

Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God,
for you stumbled because of your iniquity.
 Take words with you and return to the LORD.
 Say to Him, “Take away all iniquity and receive us graciously.”

God concluded His message to Israel by inviting her to return to Him. He declared at the beginning of His message that Israel was no longer His people, yet in His unending mercy, God relented and invited Israel to come back to Him (Hosea 1:9; 14:1).
His invitation came with a condition. He would allow her to return if she asked Him to take away all her iniquity. God did not tell Israel to take away her own sin; only He could remove it; all she had to do was ask.
Israel would come to realize that Assyria could not save her, and her idols could not save her. Only the LORD her God could save her. Not only would He save her, but He would turn His anger away from her, heal her, and love her (Hosea 14:3-4).
God extends the same invitation to you. He invites you to return to Him.
Pray Hosea 14:2a and 9 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“I take Your Words with me, and I return to You, LORD.
Take away all of my iniquity and receive me graciously.
LORD, make _________ and me wise to understand these things.
Make us discerning, so we can know them.

LORD, Your ways are right;
make us righteous, so we will walk in them.

Do not let us be transgressors who stumble in Your ways.
Because of Your name, Jesus~”

Hosea 13 - Praying God's Word

Please read Hosea 13.
Meditate on verses 14.

Shall I ransom them from the power of Sheol?
Shall I redeem them from death?
O Death, where are your thorns?
O Sheol, where is your sting?
Compassion will be hidden from My sight.

Because the LORD is so loving and gracious, it is often hard to see Him imposing justice. As a New Testament believer, you function in a Kingdom marked by merciful and graceful forgiveness from God and a resulting relationship with Him. That relationship is the result of satisfied justice. The execution of Jesus on the altar of the cross became the sacrifice needed to justify believers before God.
Judgment is coming for those who are not in Christ. Their situation is dire. Their future is tied to a certain end—unless—unless—unless they turn from their sin and give their lives to Jesus as their Savior and LORD. If you do not know Jesus as your Savior and you would like to, then find a Christian who can help you. If you do not have anyone in your life to help, write to us at GodsGreaterGrace.com, and we will help you.
Paul quoted part of Hosea 13:14 in I Corinthians 15:55: “O Death, where is your victory? O Death where is your sting?” He was celebrating that the power of the Law and death are removed in Christ Jesus. This is the goal of your prayers, believers. Pray for God’s victory in the life of those you love who do not know Jesus as their Savior.
Pray Hosea 13:14 over those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
LORD, please ransom _______  from the power of Sheol.
 Redeem them from death.
Help them to know You,
so they will not know the thorns of death and the sting of Sheol.
May they have compassion in Your sight.

In Your name, Jesus~”

Hosea 12 - Praying God's Word

Please read Hosea 12.
Meditate on verses 4b-6 and 11.

He found Him at Bethel, and there He spoke with us,
even the LORD, the God of hosts, the LORD is His name.
Therefore, return to your God, observe kindness and justice,
and wait for your God continually.
Is there iniquity in Gilead?  Surely they are worthless.
In Gilgal they sacrifice bulls.
Yes, their altars are like stone heaps beside the furrows of the field.

Israel’s relationship with God was broken. This brokenness resulted in their inability to perceive wrongdoing:
1. Israel made relationships with foreign countries for security rather than trusting in God for their salvation (Hosea 12:1).
2. Israel assumed that since they were a rich country, they had no sin (Hosea 12:8).
3. In Gilgal, holy sacrifices were being offered, not in the temple on an altar by legitimate priests. Their altars at Gilgal would become like worthless piles of stones near a field (Hosea 12:11).
The LORD called for Israel to:
1. Return to Him.
2. Behave like Him, in kindness and justice.
3. Wait for Him to deliver them (Hosea 12:6).
These verses capture how to be a follower of “the LORD, the God of Hosts, the LORD is His name” (Hosea 12:5). Orient your life to God, emulate His nature, and trust Him.
Pray Hosea 12:4-6 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, the God of hosts, and I are weeping seeking Your favor.

Find us and speak to us.
We return to You, God.

Help us to observe kindness and justice.
 We wait continually for You.

In Your name, LORD~”

Hosea 11 - Praying God's Word

Please read Hosea 11.
Meditate on verses 1 and 10-11.

“When Israel was a youth I loved him, and out of Egypt I called My son.
They will walk after the LORD.
 He will roar like a lion;
indeed He will roar, and His sons will come trembling from the west.
They will come trembling like birds from Egypt
and like doves from the land of Assyria;
and I will settle them in their houses,” declares the LORD.

Chapter 11 is a very tender passage that gives you insight into the pain God was going through judging Israel, also called Ephraim.
~In verse 1, God revealed that He loved Israel when Israel was a youth in Egypt.
~In verse 3, God taught Israel to walk. He carried them in His arms and was their healer.
~In verse 4, God led Israel with bonds of love. He lifted the yoke from their mouth and bent down to feed them.
~In verses 8-9, God spoke with great sadness and passion:
How can I give you up, O Ephraim? How can I surrender you, O Israel?
My heart is turned over within me. All my compassions are kindled.
I will not execute My fierce anger. I will not destroy Ephraim again.

Despite the sins of Israel and Judah, the Holy One is faithful (Hosea 11:12). Despite your unfaithfulness, God is faithful! He is faithful to forgive you of all unrighteousness and to finish the work He started in you. God is faithful!
Pray Hosea 11:1 and 3 over those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, You have loved ________ from their youth.
Call them out their slavery to sin.

Teach them how to walk with You.

Take them in Your arms.

Please heal them, LORD.

Because You are faithful, Holy One~”
