Jeremiah 26 - Praying God's Word

Please read Jeremiah 26.

Meditate on verse 2.

Thus says the LORD, “Stand in the

court of the LORD’s house, and speak to all

the cities of Judah who have come to worship

in the LORD’s house all the words that I have

commanded you to speak to them.

Do not omit a word!”

Jeremiah was preaching in the court of the temple to everyone who came to worship.  God commanded him not to omit a word of his sermon!  The LORD hoped the people would listen and turn from their evil way, so He could repent of the calamity He had planned “because of their evil deeds” (vs. 2-3).

The people responded to Jeremiah’s sermon by wanting to kill him.  The priests and the prophets demanded a death sentence.  But when the city officials heard Jeremiah’s sermon, they recognized it as the Word of the LORD, and they spared his life (vs. 8-16).

How do you share God’s Word?  Do you omit the words that are not politically correct or might make someone upset?  How do you respond to God’s Word?  Are you willing to change your lifestyle, so you can experience God’s blessings instead of His wrath?

Pray Jeremiah 26:2-3 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, help _______ and me speak the Words

You command us to speak.

Do not let us omit a Word!

Help us and others listen to Your every Word.

May we desire to turn from our wicked way,

so You will repent of the calamity

which You are planning to do

because of the evil of our deeds.

For Your name’s sake, Jesus~”
