Psalm 29 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 29.
Observe this repeated phrase: The voice of the LORD…
Meditate on verse 9b.

…in His temple everything says, “Glory!”

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you,
whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?
For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.
—1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Yesterday, you read Psalm 28 and learned that David would rather die than not hear the LORD speak to him.  Today, as you read Psalm 29, you discovered some of the results of David hearing the LORD.  Because David listened to God, he knew the sound of His voice.  Here are some things David knew:

1.     The voice of the LORD is upon the waters.
2.     The voice of the LORD is powerful.
3.     The voice of the LORD is majestic.
4.     The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars.
5.     The voice of the LORD hews out flames of fire.
6.     The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness.
7.     The voice of the LORD makes the deer to calve and strips the forests bare.

The response to God’s voice from everything in His temple was: “Glory!”

Do the words of your mouth, the thoughts of your mind, and the actions of your life say “Glory!” to your LORD?  Listen to God with everything you do, today.  Let your response to Him be, “Glory!”

Pray Psalm 29:1-2, 10-11, and 9b over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD,  _______ and I ascribe to You glory and strength.
We ascribe to You the glory due to Your name.
We worship You in holy array.
LORD, You sat as King at the flood.
LORD, You sit as King forever!
LORD, give strength to us; LORD, bless us with peace.
As Your temple, may everything in us say about You, “Glory!”
Because of Your glorious name, Jesus~”
