Luke 6 ~ Praying God's Word

Read Luke 6. As you do, notice the timing of events and everything that Jesus does. Remember Luke wrote in consecutive order (Luke 1:3-4).
Meditate on verse 46.
Why do you call Me, “LORD, LORD,”
and do not do what I say?

Do you call Jesus “LORD”? Do you obey Him? A lord is a master, a person possessing supreme power and authority. No wonder Jesus questioned His disciples about why they were calling Him “LORD.” They called Jesus their LORD, but they did not obey Him as a LORD must be obeyed. After asking the question, Jesus immediately defined what it meant to call Him “LORD.” If Jesus is your LORD, you will:
·      Come to Him
·      Hear His Words
·      Do His Words
Pray Luke 6:46-48 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“May __________ and I call You “LORD”
and do what You say.

Jesus, help us come to You, hear Your Words, and act on them.

Jesus, build our spiritual houses.

May we dig deep and lay our foundation on You, our Rock.
When a flood occurs and the torrent bursts against our homes,
may they be unshakeable

because we have built in Your name, Jesus~”

Luke 5 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read Luke 5.
Meditate on verse 5.

Simon answered and said,
“Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing,
but I will do as You say and let down the nets.”

Have you ever worked hard and accomplished nothing? Peter was frustrated that his hard work had not paid off. But Peter was willing to obey his Master Jesus and do whatever He told him to do. Peter’s obedience to Jesus paid off; the nets were so full of fish they began to break. James and John were with Peter, and these three men were so seized with amazement by Jesus Christ they left everything and followed Him.
This is the appropriate response to Jesus when He intersects your life:
            *Be seized with amazement
            *Do as He says
*Leave everything (from your old life)
            *Follow Him

Pray Luke 5:1, 5, 9, and 11 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 61:6-7).

“LORD, may ______ and I listen to Your Word.
Let us be seized with amazement
by what You are doing in our lives.
LORD, may we do as You say,
 leave everything, and follow You.
In Your name, Jesus.”

Luke 4 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read Luke 4.
Meditate on verse 1.

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan
and was led around by the Spirit in the wilderness.

Luke recorded interesting contrasts in this chapter. Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, was being led in the power of the Holy Spirit (Luke 4:14). The people in Nazareth were full of rage and driving Jesus out of their city (Luke 4:28-29). The people in Capernaum were amazed by Christ’s teaching and did not want Him to go away from them (Luke 4:32,42).
What are you full of? How are you responding to Jesus Christ?
Pray Luke 4:1, 14, and 42 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 61:6-7).
“LORD, please let _________ and me be full of Your Holy Spirit;

let us be led by Your Spirit
in the power of Your Spirit.

May we be like those from Capernaum, never wanting You to leave us.

In Your name, Jesus~”

Luke 3 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read Luke 3.
Meditate on verse 8a.

Therefore bear fruits in keeping with repentance.

John the Baptist was an “in your face” preacher. He called the people a “brood of vipers” (Luke 3:7) and told them not to rely on their pedigree for salvation (Luke 3:8). The people responded by asking John what they should do to bear fruits in keeping with repentance and to be in a state of expectation for the coming of Christ (Luke 3:10, 15).
Contrast the people’s reaction to Herod’s response when John reprimanded him for the wicked things he had done. Herod added to his wicked deeds by locking John up in prison (Luke 3:19-20).
How do you respond when God confronts you about sin? Do you ask Him what to do to bear fruits in keeping with repentance? Or in rebellion to the Holy Spirit, do you add to the wicked things you are doing by continuing in disobedience to God?
Pray Luke 3:8,10,15, and 20 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, as __________ and I live in a state of expectation of Your return,
tell us what to do to bear fruits in keeping with repentance.

Do not let us add to the wicked things we have done.
In Your name, Jesus~”

Luke 2 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read Luke 2.
Meditate on verse 26.

And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit
that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

Simeon could depart this earthly life in peace once he had seen God’s salvation. As he held Jesus in his arms, he blessed God for allowing him to see the LORD’s Christ before he saw death (Luke 2:26-30).
There is only one way to depart this earthly life in peace. You must see God’s salvation. You must hold Jesus in your arms as the gift of grace that is salvation. You must see the LORD’s Christ before you die.
Think of the people you know who would not depart in peace if they were to die today. Pray Luke 2:26 over them as their faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“Holy Spirit, let _________ see Christ before they see death.

In Your name, Jesus~”

Luke 1 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read Luke 1.
Meditate on verses 1-4.

Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile an account
of the things accomplished among us,
just as they were handed down to us
by those who from the beginning
were eyewitnesses and servants of the Word,
it seemed fitting for me as well,
having investigated everything carefully from the beginning,
to write it out for you in consecutive order,
 most excellent Theophilus;
so that you may know the exact truth
about the things you have been taught.

Meticulous Luke wrote a consecutive account of the life of Jesus and the church. It is recorded in the Bible in the books of Luke and Acts. For the next 52 days, you will read and pray exact Truth, the chapters written by God through Luke, His servant of the Word (Luke 1:2). What a gift God gave you in His Word!
Luke 1 is filled with treasures to pray. Take time to find the verses God wants you to pray specifically for those you love. For example, Luke 1:17 is good to pray over someone who needs to be brought to obedience to Christ. “LORD, turn the heart of __________ back to their children and turn _____________, who is disobedient, to the attitude of the righteous. Make them people prepared for You.”
Pray Luke 1:6 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, please let _________ and me be like Zacharias and Elizabeth,
righteous in Your sight,
walking blamelessly in all the commandments and requirements of You.

In Your name, Jesus~”

Colossians 3 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read Colossians 3.
Meditate on verse 16a.

Let the Word of Christ richly dwell within you.

Colossians 3 is rich with verses to pray over your family. As you learn how to let the Word of Christ live in you, try to memorize a short verse or phrase from the Bible, meditate on it, praying it over yourself and others all day long. For example: “Let the Word of Christ richly dwell within my family; let the Word of Christ richly dwell within my family...” The more you do this, the more God’s Word will be dwelling within you. As needs arise, you will already have a verse hidden in your heart that will come to mind to pray immediately over that specific person and situation.
Pray Colossians 3:15-16 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“Let the peace of Christ rule in __________ and my heart.
Let us be thankful.

Let the Word of Christ richly dwell within us
with all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another

with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,

singing with thankfulness in our hearts to You, God.

In Your name, Jesus~”
