1 Timothy 2 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Timothy 2.
Meditate on verses 1-4.

First of all, then,
I urge that entreaties and prayers,
 petitions and thanksgivings,
be made on behalf of all men,
for kings and all who are in authority,

so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life
in all Godliness and dignity.

This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
who desires all men to be saved
and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Paul commanded Timothy to fight the good fight, keep the faith, and keep a good conscience. Some people in the church rejected doing those things, and their faith suffered shipwreck (1 Timothy 1:18-20). How could the shipwreck of one’s faith be averted? Pray! Pray for yourself and pray for everyone else. The way to fight the good fight is with prayer. It was the first thing God told the Ephesian Christians to do, and He commands you to do the same. Your faith and the faith of others is at stake. God wants all people to be saved, and He wants you to pray for their salvation.
Pray 1 Timothy 2:4 over those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, You say in Your Word
You desire for all people to be saved
and come to the knowledge of the truth.
Please save ________.

For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”

1 Timothy 1 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Timothy 1.
Meditate on verse 12.

I thank Christ Jesus our LORD, who has strengthened me
because He considered me faithful, putting me into service.

Paul left Timothy in Ephesus to teach the believers how to function as a church (1 Timothy 1:3; 3:15). Before Paul gave Timothy guidelines for church administration, Paul thanked Jesus for giving him strength, mercy, grace, faith, love, and patience. Paul acknowledged his past life as a blasphemer, persecutor, violent aggressor, and the foremost of sinners. If Jesus Christ saved Paul and put him into service, then no one in Ephesus was hopeless for eternal life and serving the LORD.
This letter is for you and those for whom you are praying. Are you standing guard over someone who appears will never follow Christ? Be encouraged by blasphemous, violently aggressive, persecuting, sinful Paul, who because of the LORD Jesus Christ, became a faithful servant to eternal, immortal, invisible King Jesus. If God can save Paul, He can save anyone!
Pray 1 Timothy 1:12-19 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD Jesus Christ, strengthen _________ and me.
Please consider us faithful and put us into service.
Show us Your mercy, grace, faith, and love.

Thank You for coming into the world to save sinners.
Please let _________ believe in You for eternal life.
Help us fight the good fight, keep the faith, and keep a good conscience.
Now to You, King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God,
be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen~”

2 Thessalonians 3 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read 2 Thessalonians 3.
Meditate on verse 3.

The LORD is faithful,
and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.
Paul prayed for the Thessalonian Christians, and he needed them to pray for him. His prayer request was for the Word of the LORD to spread rapidly and be glorified and that Silas, Timothy, and he be rescued from perverse and evil men. Paul knew the LORD was faithful, and he wanted the believers to trust God by praying for His strength and protection.
God is faithful, and He is able to make those you love stable and constant in Him. Do not grow weary in your prayer life. The LORD wants you to ask Him for His strength and protection.
Pray 2 Thessalonians 3:1-5 and 16 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, let Your Word spread rapidly
and be glorified in the life of _________ and me.

Rescue us from perverse and evil men;

for not all have faith.

But You are faithful, LORD,
and You will strengthen and protect us from the evil one.

Help us do what You command.
God, direct our hearts into Your love and steadfastness.
LORD of peace, continually grant us peace in every circumstance.
LORD, be with us.

In Your name, Jesus~”

2 Thessalonians 2 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read 2 Thessalonians 2.
Meditate on verse 13.

God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation.
The believers in Thessalonica needed reassurance. There were false rumors that the day of the LORD (events that will occur at the end of time) had come. Paul reassured them of what must occur prior to that day, about their assurance of salvation, and that God chose them and loved them.
These are reassuring words for you, too. If you are in Christ, you are much loved by the LORD; God has chosen you for salvation, and you will gain the glory of your LORD Jesus Christ (2 Thessalonians 2:13-14). Stand firm in these truths and do not allow the deception of wickedness into your thoughts (2 Thessalonians 2:10, 15).
Pray 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD Jesus Christ and God our Father,
You have loved ______ and me
and given us eternal comfort
and good hope by grace.

Comfort and strengthen our hearts
in every good work and word.

In Your name, Jesus~”

2 Thessalonians 1 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read 2 Thessalonians 1.
Meditate on verse 4.

We ourselves speak proudly of you
 among the churches of God
for your perseverance and faith
in the midst of all your persecutions
 and afflictions which you endure.

Persecution did not let up for the believers in Thessalonica, but their perseverance was unwavering, for which Paul was thankful. In the midst of affliction, their faith and love became greater. Paul handwrote this second letter to exhort and encourage them to not grow weary in doing good.
God’s Word is timeless and eternally preserved, so you can be encouraged in your faith. In the midst of suffering, remember these truths (2 Thessalonians 1:5-10):

*God’s righteous judgment will prove you worthy of His kingdom.
*God will repay with affliction those who afflict you.
*God will give relief to you who are afflicted.
*The LORD Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in
  flaming fire.
*The LORD Jesus will deal out retribution to those who do not obey His
   Gospel.
*The LORD Jesus will be marveled at among all who have believed.

Aren’t you thankful God wrote to remind you of these things? When you are in the midst of trials, you need to know how the story ends.
Pray 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“God, count ________ and me worthy of our calling,
and fulfill every desire for goodness
and the work of faith with power,

so that Your name, LORD Jesus,
will be glorified in us and us in You.
According to Your grace, God and LORD Jesus Christ~”

1 Thessalonians 5 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Thessalonians 5.
Meditate on verses 16-18.

Rejoice always;
pray without ceasing;
in everything give thanks,
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Do you want to know God’s will for your life? God specifically tells you three things to do in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. It is God’s will for you to always rejoice, to unceasingly pray, and to give thanks in everything. You learned in 1 Thessalonians 4:3 that your sanctification is also God’s will for your life. Obeying the commands to rejoice, pray, and give thanks will expedite your process of becoming more and more pure and holy, more and more like Jesus.
Pray 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“God of peace, sanctify* _________ and me entirely.
May our spirit, soul, and body be preserved complete,
without blame at Your coming, LORD Jesus Christ.
Father, You are faithful;
You have called us, and You will bring it to pass.

In Your name, Jesus~”

*Sanctify means to separate from profane things and dedicate to God.

1 Thessalonians 4 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Thessalonians 4.
Meditate on verse 3.

For this is the will of God, your sanctification,
that is, you abstain from sexual immorality.

Paul was concerned about the sanctification of the Thessalonian Christians. The 1828 Webster’s Dictionary defines sanctification as “the act of God’s grace by which the affections of men are purified from sin and the world and exalted to a supreme love to God.”
It is God’s will for you to be sanctified. In order to be in God’s will, you cannot be living in sin. God commands you in 1 Thessalonians 4:4-5 to control your body in holiness and honor, not in lustful passion.
How is your sanctification coming? Are you allowing sinful lusts to possess you, or are you allowing the Holy Spirit to possess you for the purpose of becoming more and more like Christ? This letter to the Thessalonians is also a letter written to you. God exhorts you to excel still more as you live to please Him (1 Thessalonians 4:1, 10).
Pray 1 Thessalonians 4:1, 3-5, and 7 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, please let and me walk and please You.
Help us to excel still more in pleasing You.

Let us abstain from sexual immorality.

May we possess our bodies for
sanctification and honor.

Do not let us allow lustful passion to possess us.
God, You have not called us for the purpose of impurity but for holiness.

Help us live in Your calling.

For the sake of Your name, Jesus~
