1 Timothy 3 ~ Praying Scripture

Please read 1 Timothy 3.
Meditate on verse 15.

But in case I am delayed,
I write so that you will know how one ought to conduct himself
in the household of God, which is the church of the living God,
the pillar and support of the truth.

1 Timothy 3:15 contains the definition of church.  The church of the living God is the household of God and the pillar and support of the truth.  Does your church fit that description? Does it take a stand for the truth of God’s Word, or does it capitulate to worldly ideology because the members are more afraid of offending men than offending God?  Pray for your church to be a pillar of truth and for the members to possess the 25 Godly characteristics listed in this chapter.

Pray 1 Timothy 3 over yourself and your church as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“Living God, let Your church, Your household,
be the pillar and support of the truth.
Establish these characteristics in me
and the other leaders and members of Your church:
*above reproach
*husbands of one wife
*temperate
*prudent
*respectable
*hospitable
*able to teach
*not addicted to wine
*not pugnacious
*gentle
*peaceable
*free from the love of money
*able to manage our own household well
*able to keep our children under control with dignity
*not conceited
*able to take care of the church of God
*not falling into the condemnation of the devil
*good reputation outside of church
*not falling into the snare of the devil
*dignified
*not double-tongued
*not fond of sordid gain
*holding to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience
*not malicious gossips
*faithful in all things

For Your sake, Jesus~”

1 Timothy 2 ~ Praying Scripture

Please read 1 Timothy 2.
Meditate on verses 1-4.

First of all, then,
I urge that entreaties and prayers,
petitions and thanksgivings,
be made on behalf of all men,
for kings and all who are in authority,
so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life
in all Godliness and dignity.
This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
who desires all men to be saved
and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Paul commanded Timothy to fight the good fight, keep the faith, and keep a good conscience.  Some people in the church rejected doing those things, and their faith suffered shipwreck (1 Timothy 1:18-20).  How could the shipwreck of one’s faith be averted?  Pray!  Pray for yourself and pray for everyone else.  The way to fight the good fight is with prayer.  It was the first thing God told the Ephesian Christians to do, and He commands you to do the same.  Your faith and the faith of others is at stake.  God wants all people to be saved, and He wants you to pray for their salvation.

Pray 1 Timothy 2:4 over those for whom you are standing guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“Lord, You say in Your Word
You desire for all people to be saved
and come to the knowledge of the truth.
 Please save _____________.
For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”

1 Timothy 1 ~ Praying Scripture

Please read 1 Timothy 1.
Meditate on verse 12.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord,
who has strengthened me
because He considered me faithful,
putting me into service.

Paul left Timothy in Ephesus to teach the believers how to function as the church of the living God (1 Timothy 1:3; 3:15).  Paul wrote this letter to Timothy to give him instructions concerning church organization and responsibilities of believers.  It is a timely message for the church today because the administration of God is still by faith (1 Timothy 1:4).

Before Paul gave Timothy guidelines for church administration, Paul thanked Jesus for giving him strength, mercy, grace, faith, love, and patience.  Paul acknowledged his past life as a blasphemer, persecutor, violent aggressor, and the foremost of sinners.  If Jesus Christ saved Paul and put him into service, then no one in Ephesus was hopeless for eternal life and serving the Lord.  Timothy and the other Christians needed to be reminded, so they would continue to fight the good fight (1 Timothy 1:12-18).

This letter is for you and those for whom you are praying.   Are you in a seemingly hopeless situation?  Are you standing guard over someone who appears will never follow Christ?  Be encouraged by blasphemous, violently aggressive, persecuting, sinful Paul, who because of the Lord Jesus Christ, became a faithful servant to eternal, immortal, invisible King Jesus.  If God can save Paul, He can save anyone!

Pray 1 Timothy 1:12-19 over yourself and those for whom you are standing guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen __________ and me.
Please consider us faithful and put us into service.
Show us Your mercy, grace, faith, and love.
Thank you for coming into the world to save sinners.
Please let _________ believe in You for eternal life.
Help us fight the good fight, keep the faith, and a good conscience.
Now to You, King eternal, immortal, invisible,
the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.  Amen.”

2 Thessalonians 3 ~ Praying Scripture

Please read 2 Thessalonians 3.
Meditate on verse 3.

The Lord is faithful,
and He will strengthen and protect
you from the evil one.

Paul prayed for the Thessalonian Christians, and he needed them to pray for him.  His prayer request was for the Word of the Lord to spread rapidly and be glorified and for Silas, Timothy, and him to be rescued from perverse and evil men.  Paul knew the Lord was faithful, and he wanted the believers to trust God by praying for His strength and protection.

God is faithful, and He is able to make those you love stable and constant in Him.  Do not grow weary in your prayer life.  The Lord wants you to ask Him for His strength and protection.

Pray 2 Thessalonians 3:1-5, and 16 over yourself and those for whom you are standing guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“Lord, let Your Word spread rapidly and be glorified
in the life of ____________ and me.
Rescue us from perverse and evil men;
for not all have faith.
But You are faithful, Lord,
and You will strengthen and protect
us from the evil one.
Help us do what You command.
God, direct our hearts into
Your love and steadfastness.
Lord of peace, continually grant us peace in every circumstance.
Lord, be with us.
In Your name, Jesus~”

2 Thessalonians 2 ~ Praying Scripture

Please read 2 Thessalonians 2.
Meditate on verse 13.

God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation.

The believers in Thessalonica needed reassurance.  There were false rumors that the day of the Lord (events that will occur at the end of time) had come.  Paul reassured them of must occur prior to that day, about their assurance of salvation, and that God chose them and loved them.

These are reassuring words for you, too.  If you are in Christ, you are much loved by the Lord; God has chosen you for salvation, and you will gain the glory of your Lord Jesus Christ (2 Thessalonians 2:13-14).  Stand firm in these truths and do not allow the deception of wickedness into your thoughts (2 Thessalonians 2:10, 15).

Pray 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 over yourself and those for whom you are standing guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father,
You have loved _________ and me
and given us eternal comfort
and good hope by grace.
Comfort and strengthen our hearts
in every good work and word.

In Your name, Jesus~”
