Isaiah 57 ~ Praying Scripture

Please read Isaiah 57.
Meditate on verse 21.

“There is no peace,” says my God,  “for the wicked.”

There are precious promises and dire warnings in Isaiah 57.  God says in verses 1 and 2 that the righteous man is taken away from evil and enters into peace.  The high and exalted One Who lives forever, Whose name is Holy, also says, “I dwell on a  high and holy place, and also with the contrite and lowly of spirit in order to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.”

It is amazing to think that the God of the Universe resides with you when you are humble and sorrowful about your sin.  He stays with you to revive you so you can live for and with Him forever.

But with those who continue in the pride of their sin, God is angry and hides His face from them.  The LORD says they will have no peace.

Pray Isaiah 57:14-15 over those for whom the LORD has appointed you a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, please build up and prepare the way for ______________.
Remove every obstacle from their life that keeps them from You.
Give them a contrite and lowly spirit
so that You will dwell with them and revive them.
In Your Name, Jesus~”

Isaiah 56 ~ Praying Scripture

Please read Isaiah 56.
Meditate on verse 1.

Thus says the LORD,
“Preserve justice and do righteousness,
for My salvation is about to come
and My righteousness to be revealed.”

The beginning of this chapter is addressed to those of us who are not Jewish.  It is our promise from the LORD that if we join ourselves to Him, we will not be separated from His people, and He will give us an everlasting name even better than that of sons and daughters.  These are amazing Words from our God!

The last half of the chapter is addressed to those God has appointed as watchmen, but are blind and falling asleep on the job, shepherding the flock God has given them without understanding.  They are selfish shepherds concerned about their own pleasures.

Examine your life.  Are you ceaselessly praying for those God has entrusted to your watchful care?  Are the words you speak over your flock the Words of God?  Are you more concerned about your needs and wants or about taking care of others like the Good Shepherd takes care of you?

Pray Isaiah 56:1-2 over yourself and those for whom God has appointed you a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, as your watchman for my family,
help me to preserve justice and do righteousness.
Thank You for Your salvation and righteousness.
Let salvation and righteousness come into the lives of all my family,
and bless us as we take hold of them.
Bless us as we keep from profaning Your Sabbath.
Keep our hands from doing any evil.
In Your Name, Jesus~”

Isaiah 55 ~ Praying Scripture

Please read Isaiah 55.
Meditate on verses 1-2.

Ho!  Every one who thirsts, come to the waters;
and you who have no money come, buy and eat.
Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.
Why do you spend money for what is not bread,
and your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me and eat what is good,
and delight yourself in abundance.

Do you ever think about the invitation that God gives to you?

You Are Invited to a Banquet
Host:  The LORD
Cost:  No cost to you
Come and drink from the waters and eat what is good.
Delight yourself in abundance.
If you accept this invitation,
The LORD will make an everlasting covenant with you.

Isaiah 55 is a beautiful invitation to enter into a covenant relationship with Jesus Christ.  Once you have that relationship with Christ, you commemorate it with a covenant meal, the Lord’s Supper/Communion.  What is your reply to this invitation?  Have you chosen to delight yourself in the abundance of the LORD?

Pray Isaiah 55:6-7 over yourself and those whom God has appointed you a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, please let ______________ and me seek You while You may be found.
Let us call upon You while You are near.
Let the wicked forsake their way
and the unrighteous their thoughts.
Let us return to You, LORD.
God, thank You that You will have compassion on us,
and You will abundantly pardon.
In Your Name, Jesus.”

Isaiah 54 ~ Praying Scripture

Please read Isaiah 54.
Meditate on verse 8.

“In an outburst of anger
I hid My face from you for a moment,
But with everlasting lovingkindness
I will have compassion on you,”
Says the LORD your Redeemer.

God tells you about two of His amazing attributes in Isaiah 54:8.  His lovingkindness is His attitude toward you which contains mercy.  The LORD’s lovingkindness leads you to repentance.   His compassion means to fondle, soothe, cherish, and love deeply like a parent loves a child.

You may feel afflicted, storm-tossed, and not comforted today (Isaiah 54:11).  Let the promises of the LORD in Isaiah 54 encourage you.  The LORD Who has compassion on you says, “My lovingkindness will not be removed from you, and my covenant of peace will not be shaken.”

Pray Isaiah 54:13-14 over your family today.

“LORD, thank You that You will teach my sons
and their well-being will be great.
Establish us in righteousness
and keep us far from oppression.
Do not let us fear
and do not let terror come near us.
In Your Name, Jesus.”

Isaiah 53 ~ Praying Scripture

Please read Isaiah 52:13-53:12.
Meditate on Isaiah 53:6.

All of us like sheep have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way;
But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all
To fall on Him.

This is the “Suffering Servant” passage of Scripture.  It actually begins in Isaiah 52:13.  Keep in mind that chapters and verses were added to the translations of the Hebrew and Greek texts in order to make referencing Scripture easier.  You should read God’s Word as if those divisions are not there in order not to miss important parts of the message.  For example when Isaiah asks, “Who has believed our message?” (Isaiah 53:1), the message is in Isaiah 52:13-15.

Acts 8:26-40 tells about an Ethiopian who believed the message.  He was reading this passage from Isaiah when he met Philip.  Philip preached Jesus to him by explaining this Suffering Servant Scripture.   These are good verses to use when witnessing to Jews about Jesus.  Many have come to faith in Christ when this part of their Bible is explained to them.

Reread these verses from Isaiah and thank your Suffering Servant for pouring Himself out to death on your behalf to be your guilt offering.

“LORD, You were pierced through for my transgressions.
You were crushed for my iniquities.
The chastening for my well-being fell on You.
By Your scourging I am healed.
Jesus, You poured Yourself out to death
to be my guilt offering for sin.
Thank You seems so inadequate…
but, thank You, Jesus, for loving me this much…”
(Isaiah 53:5, 10, 12)
