Hebrews 10 - Praying God's Word

Please read Hebrews 10.

Meditate on verses 19-23.

Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence

to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus,

by a new and living way which He inaugurated
for us through the veil,
that is, His flesh,
and since we have a great high priest over the house of God,
let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience
and our bodies washed with pure water.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering,
for He who promised is faithful.

The Old Covenant law was only a shadow of the New Covenant salvation found in Jesus Christ. For 1,500 years, imperfect Jewish priests offered sacrifices over and over for the cleansing of sins. Daily offering the blood of bulls and goats did not take away sins, and it did not perfect the people. God instituted this seemingly futile sacrificial system to show people their need for a Savior. Trying time after time to do something to please God to save yourself is futilely exhausting. You desperately need a Savior; you need Jesus.
The sacrifice of Jesus Christ did amazing things for you:
1. You get forgiveness of all your sins and lawless deeds.
2. You have confidence to enter the Holy Place (the presence of God).
3. You have a great Priest (Jesus).
4. You can draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith.
5. Your heart has been sprinkled clean from an evil conscience.
6. Your body has been washed with pure water.
7. You can hold fast to your confession of hope in Jesus Christ without wavering.

JESUS—WHO MADE THESE PROMISES TO YOU—IS FAITHFUL!
Jesus did everything for you. All you have to do is have faith in the Faithful One.
Pray Hebrews 10:35-36 and 38-39 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, help _______ and me not throw
away our confidence in You

because it has a great reward.

Give us endurance in doing Your will,
so we may receive the promise.

Make us righteous. May we live by faith.
Do not let us shrink back.
We want Your
soul to find pleasure in us.

LORD, do not let us be like those who shrink back to destruction.
Make us like those who have faith to the preserving of the soul.
Because of Your faithfulness, Jesus~”
