Exodus 37 - Praying God's Word

Please read Exodus 37.

Meditate on verse 2.

And he overlaid it with pure gold inside and out
and made a gold molding for it all around.

The LORD must really like gold. Eighty-eight verses in Exodus contain the word “gold.” When the children of Israel left Egypt, God caused the Egyptians to give them their gold (Exodus 12:35-36). This plundered gold was purified and used to overlay the LORD’s tabernacle and its furnishings because this was the place where God dwelled among His people. He surrounded Himself with pure gold.
Interestingly, there are two things more precious to God than pure gold: the proof of your faith and the blood of His Son.

The proof of your faith, being more precious than gold …
may be found to result in praise and glory
and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
You were not redeemed with perishable things like silver and gold
from your futile way of life…but with precious blood,
as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.
—1Peter 1:7, 18-19

As a Christian, you are now the temple of the Holy Spirit, the place where God dwells. You were bought with a price worth more than all the pure gold in the world, the blood of Christ (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

Use the words from Exodus 37:29 to dedicate yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman to the LORD (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, do the work of a perfumer in ______________ and me.
Pour Your holy anointing oil on us.
May our lives be a pure, fragrant incense of Your work in us.
Because of You, Jesus~”
