Isaiah 21 - Praying God's Word

Please read Isaiah 21.
www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/isa/21/1/s_700001
Meditate on verse 10.

O my threshed people
and my afflicted of the threshing floor!
What I have heard from the LORD of hosts,
the God of Israel, I make known to you.

God gave Isaiah a harsh vision, which caused his loins to be full of anguish, for him to have pains like a woman in labor, and for him to be so bewildered and terrified he could not hear or see. Isaiah was overwhelmed with horror at the vision of God’s impending judgment.
The watchman in Isaiah 21 announces that morning is coming but also night. God’s final judgment is coming. It will bring morning for believers, but it will bring the darkest night to nonbelievers. The LORD’s judgment will be horrific for those who do not know Jesus.
Who has God placed in your life that is threshed and afflicted? Will they be in trembling, eternal darkness when Christ returns? Pray for God to give you the opportunity to make known to them what you have heard from the LORD of hosts.
Pray Isaiah 21:10 and 14 over yourself as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, I want to bring water to
the thirsty and bread to the fugitive.
Jesus, You are the Living Water, the Bread of Life.
Give me the courage and the opportunity
to say to the threshed and afflicted,
‘What I have heard from the LORD of hosts,
the God of Israel, I make known to you.’
In the name of Jesus~”

Isaiah 20 - Praying God's Word

Please read Isaiah 20.
www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/isa/20/1/s_699001
Meditate on verse 5.

Then they will be dismayed and ashamed
because of Cush their hope and Egypt their boast.

The northern kingdom of Israel was destroyed by Assyria. The southern kingdom of Judah was fearful of the same fate. They were trusting in Egypt and Cush (present-day Ethiopia and Sudan) to save them from Assyria instead of trusting in the LORD. The LORD had Isaiah dramatize the foolishness of Judah’s decision. Isaiah walked naked and barefoot for three years to show the people they were trusting in nations that were going to be taken captive themselves and led away with their buttocks uncovered.
The image is vivid and so is the point God is making. The LORD says, “Trust Me! Anyone or anything else you trust more than you trust Me is going to leave you in captivity with your hind end exposed. You will end up humiliated and looking foolish.”
Use Isaiah 20:5-6 as a prayer of confession for yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, I confess that ______ and I have fled to ___________________
for help to be delivered from ____________________.
Now, how are we going to escape?
Lord, forgive us for making them our hope and our boast.
Almighty God, You are our hope and our boast.
You are our Deliverer.
In Your name, Jesus~”

Isaiah 19 - Praying God's Word

Please read Isaiah 19.
www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/isa/19/1/s_698001
Meditate on verse 22.

The LORD will strike Egypt,
striking but healing;
so they will return to the LORD,
and He will respond to them and will heal them.

The LORD was burdened for Egypt. He was so burdened for them He was going to cause their water to dry up, their crops to be gone, their fish to be gone, their manufacturing to be gone, their leaders and wisest men to be stupid fools ...
God has ways of getting your attention, doesn’t He? Isaiah 19:20 said Egypt would “cry to the LORD because of oppressors, and He will send them a Savior and a Champion, and He will deliver them.”
Is the LORD trying to get your attention? Is He trying to get the attention of someone you love?
Pray Isaiah 19:20-22 and 24 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, _________ and I need a Savior and a Champion.
We need You to deliver us.
LORD, make Yourself known to us.
May we worship You with sacrifice and offering;
may we make a vow to You and perform it.
I know You are striking but healing us,
so we will return to You.
You will respond to us
and heal us when we return to You.
LORD, make us a blessing in the midst of the earth.
In Your Name, Jesus~”

Isaiah 18 - Praying God's Word

Please read Isaiah 18.
www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/isa/18/1/s_697001
Meditate on verse 7a.

At that time a gift of homage
 will be brought to the LORD of hosts;
from a people tall and smooth,
even from a people feared far and wide.

Isaiah 18 tells about a future time when God will cut away and remove those who refuse to honor Him. Compare Isaiah 18:5-6 with Revelation 19:17-21.
Notice what God says about Himself in Isaiah 18:4. “I will look from My dwelling place quietly like dazzling heat in the sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.”
The LORD is patiently waiting for people to come to Him in repentance before He uses His pruning knives to cut off those who oppose Him. Let Him prune the junk in your life that keeps you from wholeheartedly honoring Him.
Pray Isaiah 18:5 and 7 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, use Your pruning knives
to cut off everything keeping _________ and me
from following You. May our lives
be the gift of homage we bring to You.
In Your Name, LORD of hosts~”

Isaiah 17 - Praying God's Word

Please read Isaiah 17.
www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/isa/17/1/s_696001
Meditate on verses 10 and 11.

For you have forgotten the God of your salvation
and have not remembered the rock of your refuge.
Therefore, you plant delightful plants
and set them with vine slips of a strange god.
In that day that you plant it, you carefully fence it in,
and in the morning, you bring your seed to blossom;
but the harvest will be a heap
in a day of sickliness and incurable pain.

God told of the burden (oracle) He had for Damascus, Syria in Isaiah 17. He also reiterated a theme of Isaiah that idol worship is futile.
God will not put up with idols in your life. What are you planting in your life that is more important to you than your relationship with God? What are you carefully tending and caring for that is not pleasing to your LORD? Be honest with God. Listen to the Holy Spirit and ask Him to show you things in your life that are going to end up in a heap unless you uproot them now.
Pray Isaiah 17:7-8 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, let _________ and me have regard for You as our Maker.
May our eyes look to You, the Holy One of Israel.
May we stop having regard for the altars, the work of our hands.
Let us not look to that which our fingers have made.
May we only have eyes for You, LORD.
In Your name, Jesus~”

Isaiah 16 - Praying God's Word

Please read Isaiah 16.
www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/isa/16/1/s_695001
Meditate on verse 5.

A throne will even be established in lovingkindness,
and a judge will sit on it in faithfulness in the tent of David;
moreover, he will seek justice and be prompt in righteousness.

The burden God had for Moab continues in Isaiah 16. God was burdened for Moab because of the people’s pride, arrogance, and fury. God described Moab’s pride as excessive and his idle boasts as false (v. 6). Yet again, you see God weeping bitterly for Moab (v. 9). God hates sin, and it breaks His heart when He sees people wearying themselves in it (vs. 11-12).
In the middle of God’s oracle concerning Moab, He prophesied the coming of Messiah. The throne of Christ is established in lovingkindness, faithfulness, justice, and righteousness; exactly what you need to counter pride, arrogance, fury, and idle boasts.
Pray Isaiah 16:4 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, make extortioners, oppressors, and destruction
cease from the lives of _________ and me.
Be a hiding place to us from the destroyer.
In Your name, Jesus~”

Isaiah 15 - Praying God's Word

Please read Isaiah 15.
www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/isa/15/1/s_694001
Meditate on verse 5a.

My heart cries out for Moab.

Moab is present-day Jordan. Isaiah spoke about the burden (oracle) God had for the people of this country.
All of the inhabitants of Moab, even their armed men, wailed in distress over their ruin rather than mourning over their sin, which caused their ruin. Sadly, they went up to their idolatrous temples in their devastation and shame instead of turning to Almighty God. Amazingly, the heart of God cried out for these people who were so blinded by their sin.
Do you have the heart of the Father? What is your attitude toward others who are suffering the consequences of sin? Does your heart break for them?
Pray for God to show you the sin in your own life. After you confess and repent, ask God to give those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7) a heart to return to Him. Pray for them with the heart of God (Isaiah 15:5a).
“LORD, my heart cries out for _____________.
