Hebrews 8 - Praying God's Word

Please read Hebrews 8.
Meditate on verse 12.

For I will be merciful to their iniquities,
and I will remember their sins no more.

The writer of Hebrews sums up the first seven chapters of this letter in Hebrews 8:1-2:
Now the main point in what has been said is this:
we have such a high priest, who has taken His seat

at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, a minister in the sanctuary and in the true tabernacle, which the LORD pitched, not man.

God wanted the Jewish believers to know that in Christ they were in a better covenant relationship than what they had under the Old Covenant. Jesus was their high priest; He was in the position of authority on the throne of God, and He was ministering on their behalf in the true tabernacle built by God instead of their earthly tabernacle that was about to be destroyed by the Romans in 70 A.D. and has yet to be rebuilt.
God wants you to know these truths as well. The Old Covenant consists of 613 laws that are impossible to perfectly keep. In the New Covenant of Christ Jesus, God’s laws are written on your mind and heart, and you are able to know God and be His people. Under the New Covenant, God is merciful to your iniquities and remembers your sins no more. What an amazing salvation God offers you!
God warns you at the beginning of this letter not to neglect so great a salvation (Hebrews 2:3). Jesus has mediated a better covenant with better promises on your behalf. Why would anyone not want to be part of this covenant of salvation in Christ Jesus?
Pray Hebrews 8:10-12 over someone for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, put Your laws into the mind of _________.
Write them on their heart.

Please become their God,
and let them become your people.

Let them know You.

Be merciful to their iniquities
and remember their sins no more.

For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”

Heebrews 7 - Praying God's Word

Please read Hebrews 7.
Meditate on verse 25.

Therefore He (Jesus) is able also to save forever  those who draw near to God
through Him,  since He always lives to make intercession for them.

Notice the doctrines of God in Hebrews 7:26-28.  Jesus is:

                                    *High Priest
                                    *Holy
                                    *Innocent
                                    *Undefiled
                                    *Separated from sinners
                                    *Exalted above the heavens
*Does not need to daily offer sacrifices because He offered up
Himself once for all for your sins
                                    *Perfect forever

Amazingly, your perfect, holy, undefiled Savior lives to intercede for you. Jesus is
compared to Melchizedek, a priest and king in the days of Abraham (Genesis 14:18-
20). Melchizedek was a priest before God established the Jewish law or the priestly
system. He had no recorded genealogy in the Bible and no record of his birth or
death. He was a picture for the Israelites of Messiah. Melchizedek even brought
bread and wine to Abraham. God was giving His people a picture of Christ 2,000
years before Jesus came to earth.

The writer of Hebrews wanted to teach his readers about Melchizedek in chapter 5, but stopped because they were dull of hearing. He decided to explain Melchizedek in chapter 7 anyway.  God knew you would have ears to hear.
Jesus, who is a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek, is constantly putting in a good word for you. Satan wants to condemn you, but when you are in Christ, he cannot because Jesus always lives to intercede on your behalf. When you belong to Christ, you can boldly run to the Father because the Son of God is talking favorably about you to Him.
Pray Hebrews 7:25 over someone for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“Jesus, please let _______ draw near to God through You.
Save them forever.

Thank You for always living to make intercession for us.
In Your name, Jesus~”

Hebrews 6 - Praying God's Word

Please read Hebrews 6.
Meditate on verses 19-20a.

This hope we have as an anchor of the soul,
a hope both sure and steadfast
and one which enters within the veil,
where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us …

When rain falls, it waters an entire piece of land. The land uses the water and either produces useful vegetation or worthless thorns and thistles. God used this comparison to explain the work of the Holy Spirit. Every person on earth partakes of the blessings of the Holy Spirit and tastes the good Word of God. Like rain-watered ground, each individual chooses what to do with those blessings. Every person must choose to either receive the blessings of God resulting in salvation or to fall away from the truth. Refusing the Holy Spirit results in no repentance; then, like thorns and thistles, that life is worthless, cursed, and will end up being burned.
BUT, if your life gives evidence of salvation, then you have full assurance of hope until the end. The hope you have in Christ is the anchor of your soul; it is a sure and steadfast hope because Jesus runs before you to God the Father announcing your arrival into the presence of the LORD forever. This is truth from the Word of God, and it is impossible for God to lie (Hebrews 6:18).
Pray Hebrews 6:11-12 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, help ________ and me show diligence in our salvation
so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end.

Do not let us be sluggish,
but help us be imitators of those who through faith
and patience inherit the promises.

In Your name, Jesus~”

Hebrews 5 - Praying God's Word

Please read Hebrews 5.
Meditate on verse 12.

For though by this time you ought to be teachers,
you have need again for someone to teach you
the elementary principles of the Oracles of God,
and you have come to need milk and not solid food.

Hebrews is a meaty book. It contains many doctrines (truths) of God. Hebrews was originally written to Jewish Christians to teach that they no longer needed an earthly priest to offer sacrifices for their sins. Jesus fulfilled the Old Covenant laws; He became to everyone who obeys Him the source of eternal salvation (Hebrews 5:9).
The writer of Hebrews wanted to explain to his readers many deep things about the Oracles of God, but they could not stomach such rich teaching. They were not accustomed to the Word of Righteousness (Hebrews 5:12-13).
Are you accustomed to the Word of God? Because of use, are you familiar with the Bible? Or is God addressing you when He says, “You ought to be teaching My Word by now, but instead, you need someone teaching you My elementary principles. You have come to need the milk of My Word”?
Pray Hebrews 5:13-14 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, help ________ and me stop being infants,
partaking only of the milk of Your Word.

May we become accustomed to Your Word of Righteousness.
Make us mature in You, so we can eat solid food.
Help us practice eating the solid food of Your Word.
Train our senses to discern good and evil.

In Your name, Jesus~”

Hebrews 4 - Praying God's Word

Please read Hebrews 4.
Meditate on verses 15-16.

For we do not have a high priest
who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses,
but One who has been tempted
in all things as we are,
yet without sin.
Therefore let us draw near with confidence
 to the throne of grace,
so that we may receive mercy
and find grace to help in time of need.

Are you tired and worn out? Do the struggles of life have you feeling exhausted? God mentioned rest fourteen times in Hebrews 3 and 4. God wants you to enter His rest. Hearing the Word of God and by faith, believing the Good News, results in God’s rest for your life. Doing good works will not bring God’s rest. Works make you tired. There is nothing good enough to get you to God except Jesus Christ.
Reread Hebrews 3 and 4. Ask God to give you insight with understanding into His Word. The LORD wants you to be able to experience His rest here on earth as well as in heaven. Jesus gives you favor with God. Jesus is the High Priest who gives you mercy and grace. Draw near with confidence to God, today. You will find rest for your weary soul.
Pray Hebrews 4:6-7 and 12-13 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, do not let ________ and me fail to enter Your rest because of disobedience.
Let us hear Your voice and not harden our hearts.
Your Word is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword.
Let it pierce our soul and spirit and divide our joints and marrow.
Judge the thoughts and intentions of our hearts.
Let us hold fast our confession of You, Jesus, the Son of God, our Great High Priest.

In whose name I pray~”

Hebrews 3 - Praying God's Word

Please read Hebrews 3.
Meditate on verse 1.

Therefore, holy brethren,
 partakers of a heavenly calling,
consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession.

Consider Jesus! Fix your mind on Him. Observe Him carefully in the book of Hebrews. He is superior to Moses. He is the builder of all things. He is the living God. You are a partaker of Jesus if you hold fast to Him and are not hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. Christ builds you up as you hold fast your confidence in Him. People who are disobedient and do not believe in Jesus do not dwell with Him.
There are warnings for you in Hebrews 3. “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts. Take care that none of you has an evil, unbelieving heart that forsakes the living God” (vs. 7-8, 12).
Examine yourself. What do you believe about Jesus? Do you allow Him to build your life? Do you hold fast to Him? Do not harden your heart towards your LORD.
Pray Hebrews 3:12-14 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“Living God, do not let ________ and me
have an evil,
unbelieving heart that falls away from You.
Help us encourage one another day after day,

so we will not be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
May we be partakers of You, Christ,

and let us hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end.

In Your name, Jesus~”

Hebrews 2 - Praying God's Word

Please read Hebrews 2.
Meditate on verse 1.

For this reason we must pay
much closer attention to what we have heard,
so that we do not drift away from it.

In these last days God has spoken to you in His son (Hebrews 1:2); therefore, you must pay much closer attention to what you have heard (Hebrews 2:1).
Pick up your Bible. You are holding in your hand the very Words of Jesus Christ! The Bible is the way God chose to reveal Himself to you and communicate with you. Do you pay attention to it?
Hebrews 2 tells you truth about Jesus you must pay attention to:
* Your “so great a salvation” was spoken through the LORD; do not neglect it (vs. 2-3).
* Jesus rendered the devil powerless who had the power of death; therefore, you are free from the fear of death (v.15).
* Jesus had to become a human like you, so He would be your merciful and faithful high priest and your sacrifice to appease the wrath of God against your sin (v.17).
* When Jesus became a human, He was tempted like you are; therefore, He is able to come to your aid when you are tempted (v.18).
What a relief to know these truths about God! Pay close attention to what you have learned and pray Hebrews 2:1 and 3 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, help ________ and me to pay much closer attention
to what we have heard from You,

so we do not drift away from it.
Do not let us neglect our so great a salvation.
In Your name, Jesus~”
