1 Thessalonians 3 - Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Thessalonians 3.
Meditate on verse 8.

For now we really live, if you stand firm in the Lord.

Paul was concerned about the Christians in Thessalonica. He wanted to ensure they were not discouraged in their faith and the deciever had not tempted them. Paul had to know how they were doing, so he sent Timothy. Paul was relieved when Timothy returned with good news about their faith and love (1 Thessalonians 3:1-6).
One of the greatest joys in life is to know that those whom you are helping grow up in Christ are standing firm in Him. As a faithful, prayerful watchman, do not grow weary in praying for those God has put in your care. Ask them how they and the LORD are doing. You will REALLY live when you hear and see those you love standing firm in Jesus.
Pray 1 Thessalonians 3:8 and 12-13 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, please let _______ and me stand firm in You.
Cause us to increase and abound in love
for one another and for all people.

Let our hearts be established without blame
in holiness before You,
 God and Father,
at the coming of our LORD Jesus.

In Your name, Jesus~”

1 Thessalonians 2 - Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Thessalonians 2.
Meditate on verse 12.

Walk in a manner worthy of the God
who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

Prior to coming to Thessalonica to share the Gospel of God, Paul and Silas were beaten and put in prison at Philippi for sharing the truth of God’s Word (Acts 16:11-24). After they were miraculously released from jail, they made their way to Thessalonica. Paul reasoned with the Thessalonians from the Scriptures explaining that Jesus is the Christ. The result was the same as at Philippi; some people were persuaded to follow Christ, and some persecuted Paul and Silas (Acts 17:1-9).
Why would these men persevere for the cause of Christ amid such opposition? Why did beatings not silence them? There was no doubt in their mind that the Word of God was exactly that—the Word of Almighty God and not the word of men. Paul knew God’s Word would perform its work in those who believed. The Gospel of God working in the lives of others was worth dying for.
Paul walked in a manner worthy of God who called him into His kingdom and glory. Examine your behavior. Do you please the One who died for you? Do you walk in obedience to the Word of God?
Pray 1 Thessalonians 2:12-13 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, please help _______ and me
walk in a manner worthy of You.

Thank You for calling us into Your own kingdom and glory.
May we receive Your Word for what it really is,

the Word of God, not the word of man.

Let Your Word perform its work in us.

In Your name, Jesus~”

1 Thessalonians 1 - Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Thessalonians 1.
Meditate on verse 2.

We give thanks to God always for all of you,
making mention of you in our prayers.

Paul established the church at Thessalonica amid much persecution. The believers were falsely accused, and physical violence was used against them. Paul was sent away from the city, and after going to Berea and Athens, arrived in Corinth (Acts 17). The Thessalonian Christians were still on his mind and heart. He wrote this letter to find out how they were holding up under tremendous opposition and to encourage them that they were not forgotten. He told them he was always thanking God for them and praying for them. His words were a healing balm to spiritual, emotional, and even physical wounds.
More than 2,000 years later, Christians are still under severe opposition. Who do you know that is going through a difficult situation? Who needs an encouraging word and a reminder that they are not forgotten but being mentioned in prayer?
Pray 1 Thessalonians 1:2-4 and 6-7 over them as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7) then tell them that you did.
 “LORD, thank You for ____________.
Thank You for their work of faith, labor of love,
and steadfastness of hope in You, Jesus.
Thank You for loving them and for choosing them.
Even in the midst of much tribulation,

let them continue to receive Your Word

with the joy of the Holy Spirit,

so they will be an example to all the believers.
For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”

Colossians 4 - Praying God's Word

Please read Colossians 4.
Meditate on verse 2.

Devote yourselves to prayer,
keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving.

How is your prayer life? Would you describe yourself as devoted to prayer? Are you alert in prayer? Do you pray with an attitude of thanksgiving? Do you desire to be an Epaphras, a bondslave of Jesus Christ, who labors earnestly in prayer so those you pray for “may stand perfect and fully assured in all the will of God” (Colossians 4:12)?
Prayer is a big deal! You will not completely understand its impact on eternity until you get to heaven. In the meantime, do not grow weary and lose heart in praying. The ones you are praying for need to be mature in Christ and confident in the will of God for their lives. Your prayers help accomplish that goal.
Pray Colossians 4:3-6 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, open up the door for Your Word,

so _________ and I may speak forth Your mystery, Jesus.
Please make it clear in the way we ought to speak.

May we conduct ourselves with wisdom.

Let our speech always be with grace,
 as though seasoned with salt,
so we will know how to respond to each person.

For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”

Colossians 3 - Praying God's Word

Please read Colossian 3.
Meditate on verse 3.

For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Colossians 3 is rich with truths about who you are in Christ. Please memorize these facts about yourself.

* Christ is your life (v. 4). If you are a Christian, then Jesus is NOT part of your life. Jesus is NOT the top priority in your life. Jesus IS your life. Jesus is not a priority. Priorities can be rearranged. Jesus is the Arranger of your priorities because He is your life.
There are things you are dead to when Christ is your life (v. 5). Imagine a dead body in a coffin. Can a dead body even wiggle? No! These are things you cannot be moving in because they no longer live in you. Christ lives in you!
*You are dead to:
1.     Immorality
2.     Impurity
3.     Passion
4.     Evil desire
5.     Greed

*Lay aside:
            1.  Anger
            2.  Wrath
            3.  Malice
            4.  Slander
            5.  Abusive speech
            6.  Lying (vs. 8-9)

*Put on a heart of:
            1.  Compassion
            2.  Kindness
            3.  Humility
            4.  Gentleness
            5.  Patience
            6.  Bearing with one another
            7.  Forgiving others just as the Lord forgave you
            8.  Love (vs. 12-14)

Pray Colossians 3:15-17 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, please let the peace of Christ rule
in __________ and my hearts.

Let Your Word dwell in us richly with all wisdom.
May whatever we do in word or deed be
done in Your name, LORD Jesus.

We give thanks through You to God the Father~

Colossians 2 - Praying God's Word

Please read Colossians 2.
Meditate on verse 6 and10a.

Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord,
so walk in Him.  In Him you have been made complete.

What are you striving for in order to feel complete? God tells you in Colossians 2 to make sure no one takes you captive or deceives you with worldly principles (v. 8). The world tries to convince you to own, dress, act, and achieve certain things in order to feel complete. God’s Word says you are already complete if you are in Christ Jesus.
Remember Colossians contains at least 70 characteristics of who you are if you are in Christ. What do you learn about Jesus and you from this chapter? Verses 13 and 14 tell you that you were dead in your transgressions, but God made you alive together with Christ because He forgave ALL your transgressions. He even cancelled your certificate of debt by nailing it to the cross. Knowing those truths brings completion to your life.
Let the truth of God’s Word be established in your heart and mind, so you can walk and live in Christ. Pray Colossians 2:5- 7 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, let me rejoice to see ___________
good discipline
and stability of faith in You.
As we have received You,
let us walk in You
firmly rooted and built up

and established in our faith just as we were instructed.
Let us overflow with gratitude.

In Your name, Jesus~”

Colossians 1 - Praying God's Word

Please read Colossians 1.
Meditate on verse 17.

He (Jesus) is before all things,
and in Him all things hold together.

God had Paul write this letter to the Christians in Colossae because they needed to know they were complete in Christ (Colossians 1:28). They needed to know they were not going to fall apart because Jesus held them together.
God’s Word is timeless. When God had Paul pen this letter 2,000 years ago, He knew you would be reading it today. God wanted you to know you are complete in Christ, and you are not going to fall apart because Jesus is holding you together.
There are at least 70 actions and attributes of Jesus in this letter. There are also at least 70 things that you are if you are IN Christ. Treasure hunt this letter and see how many attributes you can find about Jesus and you. Write them on a piece of paper and keep it in a place where you can read it anytime the enemy lies to you about your identity.
Colossians also contains powerful prayers. One of those is a prayer Paul prayed over those for whom he stood guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
Pray Colossians 1:9-14 over those you are guarding.
“LORD, I do not cease to pray for
 ________
asking You to fill them with the knowledge of Your will
in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,

so that they will walk in a manner worthy of You,

to please You in all respects,

bearing fruit in every good work
and increasing in the knowledge of You, God.
Strengthen them with all power

according to Your glorious might

for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience.

I joyously give thanks to You, Father,
who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.
Rescue _______ from the domain of darkness,

and transfer them to Your kingdom.

In You, Jesus, we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
For the sake of Your name~”
