2 Corinthians 13 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read 2 Corinthians 13.
Meditate on verse 5.

Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith;
examine yourselves!
Or do you not recognize this about yourselves,
that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?

Paul planned to visit the church at Corinth for a third time. They needed to grow up in Christ. Paul did not want to use severity when he came to Corinth, but he would spare no one if sin continued to abound in this church (2 Corinthians 13:2, 10). Paul commanded each member to examine themself to make sure they were really believers. They should not be abiding in sin if they were abiding in Christ.
Proof of being a Christian is Christ in you. As a believer, you abide in Christ rather than remaining in the sins of your old life. God exhorts you. Examine yourself! Is Christ in you? Does Jesus define who you are or does sin define you?
Pray 2 Corinthians 13:11 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, let ________ and me rejoice, be made complete,
be comforted, be like-minded, and live in peace.
God of love and peace be with us.

In Your name, Jesus~”

2 Corinthians 12 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read 2 Corinthians 12.
Meditate on verse 9a.

And He has said to me,
“My grace is sufficient for you,
for power is perfected in weakness.”

The church in Corinth was a mess. Paul wanted to come visit these Christians, but he was afraid when he arrived, he would find strife, jealousy, angry tempers, disputes, slanders, gossip, arrogance, and disturbances (2 Corinthians 12:20). Paul said that many who had sinned in the past had not repented of their impurity, immorality, and sensuality. Their unrepentant hearts caused them to engage in other sins like strife, jealousy, and angry tempers.
What is going on in and around you? Are there disputes, gossip, and arrogance? Ask the Holy Spirit to convict you of unconfessed sins from your past that might be leading to disturbances in your present.
Pray 2 Corinthians 12:9 and 20-21 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman.
“Christ, _______and I need Your power to dwell in us.
LORD, I repent of the impurity, immorality, and sensuality
 I practiced in the past.

Please convict _________ to do the same.

Let the strife, jealousy, angry tempers, disputes,
slanders, gossip, arrogance, and disturbances cease.

In Your name, Jesus~”

2 Corinthians 11 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read 2 Corinthians 11.
Meditate on verse 14.

No wonder, for even Satan
disguises himself as an angel of light.

The church had been in earthly existence approximately 22 years when Paul wrote this letter to the Christians in Corinth. In that short amount of time, there were already people preaching a different Jesus, a different spirit, and a different gospel. Times have not changed, and there are still plenty of cults and world religions that preach differently; often the preaching is based on revelations by an angel of light.
Do not be deceived! Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. He never was and never will be an angel of light. In fact the Bible does not mention an angel of light. Jesus is the Light. Satan pretends to be an angel of light, so he can trick people into false christs, false spirits, false scripture, and false teaching. Hundreds of thousands of people have believed the father of lies (John 8:44). Are you one of them? Do you know someone who has been led astray by the liar, Satan, who has no truth in him (John 8:44)?
Pray 2 Corinthians 11:3 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, do not let _________ and me be like Eve
who was deceived by the craftiness of the serpent.
May our minds not be led astray
from
the simplicity and purity of devotion to You, Christ.
In Your name, Jesus~”

2 Corinthians 10 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read 2 Corinthians 10.
Meditate on verses 3-5.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh,
for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh,
but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.
We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing
raised up against the knowledge of God,
and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.

What would you think if someone said about you, “your personal presence is unimpressive and your speech contemptible”? Can you imagine? Well, perhaps you can. If so, take heart because that is what people said about Paul (2 Corinthians 10:10).
I wonder if he wanted to punch them and tell them what he thought. I wonder if he had to repeat, “I am taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,” so he wouldn’t say something regrettable.
What fortresses are you up against today? Is it another person or a difficult situation? Is it a battle going on in the lives of people you love? Is it your vain imaginations you have thought about so much they have become your reality?
Paul knew that people’s rudeness was actually spiritual warfare. He refused to war in the flesh. Almighty God was Paul’s weapon.
Pray 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, I do not want to war according to my flesh,

so I am depending You.

You are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.
LORD, help and me destroy speculations
and every lofty thing
raised up against the knowledge of You
and take every thought captive to the obedience of You, Christ.
 In Your powerful name, Jesus~”

2 Corinthians 9 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read 2 Corinthians 9.
Meditate on verse 8.

And God is able to make all grace abound to you,
so that always having all sufficiency in everything,
you may have an abundance for every good deed.

The church at Corinth promised to give an offering, and believers from Macedonia were coming to receive the offering. Paul wrote to the Corinthians to ensure they were going to keep their word. They promised a bountiful gift; Paul did not want them to be affected by covetousness and decide to give sparingly (2 Corinthians 9:5-6).
Examine your life. Is there a promise you need to keep? How do you give to your church and to others? Are you a bountiful believer or are you motivated by covetousness? This applies to time as well as money.
Pray 2 Corinthians 9:8 and 10-11 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“God, make all grace abound to _____ and me,
so we will always have all sufficiency in everything.
May we have an abundance for every good deed.
You, who supply seed to the sower
and bread for food will supply

and multiply our seed for sowing

and increase the harvest of our righteousness.
Please enrich us in everything for all liberality,
which through us is producing thanksgiving to You, God.
For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”

2 Corinthians 8 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read 2 Corinthians 8.
Meditate on this phrase from verse 5.

They first gave themselves to the Lord.

The Christians in Corinth had areas in their lives where they needed to mature. Giving was one of those areas, so Paul told them about the churches in Macedonia. By comparison, the Corinthian believers were much wealthier than the believers in Macedonia, yet even in their deep poverty, the churches in Macedonia “overflowed in the wealth of their liberality” (2 Corinthians 8:1). The Macedonian believers gave beyond their ability because they first gave themselves to the LORD.
When you give yourself to the LORD, He enables you to do things beyond your ability. You do things by the will of God and not by your will. God causes you to abound in everything to do His will.
Pray 2 Corinthians 8:5 and 7 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, may ______ and I first give ourselves to You
then to others by Your will.

Make us abound in everything,

in faith and utterance and knowledge
and in all earnestness and in love,

so we can abound in Your gracious work.
For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”

2 Corinthians 7 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read 2 Corinthians 7.
Meditate on verse 1.

Therefore, having these promises, beloved,
let us cleanse ourselves
from all defilement of flesh and spirit,
perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

In Paul’s first letter to the church at Corinth, he admonished them severely for allowing sin in the church that would not even be committed by the pagans outside their church (1 Corinthians 5:1). The Corinthian believers were saddened by Paul’s reproof in a good way because the sin was acknowledged and stopped. Paul said in this second letter that such sorrow was according to the will of God; it brought repentance leading to salvation and repentance that frees people from regrets (2 Corinthians 7:10).
Sin should make you sad. Are you grieved when you see the results of sin in your life and in the lives of others? Does grief over sin bring you to repentance and a desire to not commit that sin again? Ask God to give you and those you love His perspective on sin.
Pray 2 Corinthians 7:1 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, since _________ and I have Your promises,
 let us cleanse ourselves from
all defilement of flesh and spirit,
perfecting holiness in the fear of You, God.

In Your name, Jesus~”
