Daily Devo

Please read Isaiah 16.
Meditate on verse 5.

A THRONE WILL EVEN BE ESTABLISHED IN LOVINGKINDNESS,
AND A JUDGE WILL SIT ON IT IN FAITHFULNESS IN THE TENT OF DAVID;
MOREOVER, HE WILL SEEK JUSTICE AND BE PROMPT IN RIGHTEOUSNESS.

The burden God has for Moab continues in Isaiah 16.  God is burdened for Moab because of the people’s pride, arrogance, and fury.  God describes Moab’s pride as being excessive and his idle boasts as being false (Isaiah 16:6).  Yet again, you see God weeping bitterly for Moab (Isaiah 16:9).  God hates sin, and it breaks His heart when He sees people wearying themselves in it (Isaiah 16:11-12).

In the middle of God’s oracle concerning Moab, He prophesies the coming of Messiah.  The throne of Christ is established in lovingkindness, faithfulness, justice, and righteousness; exactly what we need to counter pride, arrogance, fury, and idle boasts.

Oh, how we need a Savior!  Thanks be to God through Christ Jesus our Lord!

Pray Isaiah 16:4 over yourself and those for whom you are standing guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

Isaiah 15 ~ Praying Scripture over Your Family

Please read Isaiah 15.
Meditate on verse 5a.

MY HEART CRIES OUT FOR MOAB.

Moab is present-day Jordan.  Isaiah speaks about the burden (oracle) God has for the people of this country.

All of the inhabitants of Moab, even their armed men, wailed in distress over their ruin rather than mourning over their sin, which caused their ruin. Sadly, they went up to their idolatrous temples in their devastation and shame instead of turning to Almighty God.  Amazingly, the heart of God cries out for these people who are so blinded by their sin.

Do you have the heart of the Father?  What is your attitude towards others who are suffering the consequences of sin?  Does your heart break for them?

Pray for God to show you the sin in your own life.  After you confess and repent, ask God to give those for whom you standing guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7) a heart to return to Him.  Pray for them with the heart of God (Isaiah 15:5a).
