Please read Isaiah 16.
Meditate on verse 5.
A THRONE WILL EVEN BE ESTABLISHED IN LOVINGKINDNESS,
AND A JUDGE WILL SIT ON IT IN FAITHFULNESS IN THE TENT OF DAVID;
MOREOVER, HE WILL SEEK JUSTICE AND BE PROMPT IN RIGHTEOUSNESS.
The burden God has for Moab continues in Isaiah 16. God is burdened for Moab because of the
people’s pride, arrogance, and fury. God
describes Moab’s pride as being excessive and his idle boasts as being false
(Isaiah 16:6). Yet again, you see God
weeping bitterly for Moab (Isaiah 16:9).
God hates sin, and it breaks His heart when He sees people wearying
themselves in it (Isaiah 16:11-12).
In the middle of God’s oracle concerning Moab, He prophesies
the coming of Messiah. The throne of
Christ is established in lovingkindness, faithfulness, justice, and
righteousness; exactly what we need to counter pride, arrogance, fury, and idle
boasts.
Oh, how we need a Savior!
Thanks be to God through Christ Jesus our Lord!
Pray Isaiah 16:4 over yourself and those for whom you are
standing guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
